In
the spring of 2000, the
St. George
Youth Group
was founded to give High School and College Students
the opportunity to experience their Orthodox Christian
faith.
They meet every Sunday after the Divine Liturgy with Fr. Aleks. Currently
the topic of discussion is, "How to create an 'Orthodox Conscious' using the
Bible and writings of the holy fathers".
The St. George Youth Group helps out with a verity of Church functions.
After the Divine
Liturgy on "Cheese-Fare" Sunday, the Youth Group hosts a "Palachinka
Breakfast". During
the summer the group hosts a fund raising dinner.

Annually,
Fr.Aleks
takes a group on
weeklong pilgrimages, visiting Orthodox Monasteries &
Churches. In the years 2000, 2001 and 2004 pilgrimages
were made to the greater Chicago area. The highlight
of these trips was to meet our Diocesan Bishop,
Metropolitan Christopher.

Our main goal is to
keep our young people in the church and maintain their faith, to listen to
them and try to help them any way we can.
